President Yoweri Museveni has
made a plea to public school teachers who are currently on strike to return to
work as the government seeks a solution to their demand for a pay rise.
“I appeal to the teachers
to go back and work. We are not against giving teachers money but we still have
roads and electricity to deal with,” Museveni said.
“We promise to handle their issue next year, but teachers insist that we handle the issue today” Museveni noted.
“So should I stop roads and electricity so that I increase salaries?”
